GURU MANTRA! BEFORE JUMPING ON SCREENING Test PROCESSES
Your gesture, body language, facial index and
your reaction and behavior of the group members constitute your behavioral
pattern. Please develop the concept when you start preparing for SSB Interview.
Do not harm anybody either from mind or from attitude. Have cooperative and
participatory mind for every one specially for those who are struggling to come
over the surface. When any member of the group is narrating his story give
acceptance which can reveal motivation for him. It is known a recognizing
attitude. If you have spoken GD then develop the attitude and have sacrificial
mind that no one should be deprived of speaking politely and friendly that too
in a very humble manner when someone is ridiculing.

Psychologist
Addressing
Gentlemen, you will be shown a picture
and you have to write a story on this picture covering five points. Gentlemen,
this is a test known as PP&DT (Picture perception and description test) and
some time it is described as picture perception and discussion test).
Gentlemen, the five points which you
have to cover are:
1)
Number of character, means firstly you have
to see as to how many characters are there?
2)
You have to mark on your page (Page will be
given earlier, pages. Will be having square on left side, action will be
written on the right side of the square. And below the square you have to write
the story). Square the Sex of the characters. Write ‘M’ for Male, ‘F’ for
female and if you cannot identify whether the character is a male a female
write ‘P’ for persons.
3)
Write the age of the character which you
think will be the age.
4)
Write down the Mood of the character. If by
the facial expression you think the character is in happy mood write down ‘+’,
if in sad mood write down ‘-‘, but if you cannot identify the mood the write
‘o’, for no mood. Gentlemen, you have to write all these three details in
square about all the characters that you see in the picture.
5)
Gentlemen the fifth important thing is the
action which is written on the right side of the square, ‘Action’ means the
name of the story which you will write. You also have to mark circle around the
Sex, age and Mood of the character which you think is the ‘Hero’ of your story,
as each and every story has a ‘Hero’. Now the story which you will write should
consist three main aspects:
I.
What led to the situation?
II.
What is going on?
III.
What will be the outcome?
Then a picture comes on the scene.
Picture
and Story writing:
You will be shown either hazy or a clear
picture for 30 seconds, after that you have to write a story the way it comes
to your mind. When the picture is shown to you the first character you perceive
should be your central character. You have to describe the Sex, Age and Mood of
the character and he will be your ‘Hero’. He will remain present in the entire
story and all the action will be carried by him.
Here one thing should be kept in the
mind that the ‘hero’ should be between the age Group of 18 to 30 years So that
he can represent the NDA and CDS aspirants.
This character should be encircled apart
from the central character. Every other character should also be denoted by
following the SAM rule (sex, age and mood) in rectangular box. Later on you have
to write the action of the story which reveals what the central character does
in the story. For assigning the action and the number of characters one minute
is given and as soon as you finish these things you have to write a story
covering three aspects:
1)
What let to the Situation?
(What has happened because
of which this picture is put before you?)
2)
What is going on?
(What action your hero is
taking?)
3)
What the outcome will be?
(Which work has been done by
the central character?)
You will be given three and half minutes
for writing the story. Please keep in your mind that you are required to write
complete story. Do not merely describe the picture. After writing the story a
break of 05 – 15 minutes is given and then aspirants are called in small
groups. The group may consist of 15 to 16 or may be 18 or 22 (Not fixed criteria)
but it may range between 15 to maximum 22 to 25.
Now
the second and third phase starts
With this stage you have to narrate your
story one by one without waiting for any further instructions. You have to
finish your story within one minute (this one minute time is not mandatory, it
may be decreased or increased depending upon the quality and consented
narration or it may be on the wish of assessors)
Here you have to keep one thing in your
mind, that do not try to change your story as whatever you have written.
Although you can add one or two statements to finish your story, whatever story
you are writing, is to be written under the time pressure so it should reflect
your actual/natural personality. Do not bother that you have not been able to
write a good story. No one is concerned about your story. They are looking for
your background/ projection, your thinking, your way of expression and
projection of your OLQs (Officer like Qualities).
For example, if you come from a rural
background your story must be denoting environment of village or semi – urban
areas. Contrary to it if having rural background your story relates to metro
city then it will be considered as pre-conceived or mugged up story.
Find the due from the picture’s
background, body language of the characters then write the story basing on
these components. Now, coming to the narration, narrate your story will full
confidence making proper eye contact with every aspirants of your group
finishes its narration, the entire group will automatically plunge into the
group discussion and that becomes the third phase of your screening test.
Group
Discussion
Every candidate writes a different
story, it must be different and that is the difficult part in group discussion.
The group is required to reach at the common group story. There is no time
limit for the group discussion. It totally depends upon the performance of the
group. For example, if the group is maintaining the harmony and co-operation
while making the story when assessors will not stop or terminate the
discussion.
Some Guide line for you to perform well in screening test

Go with a fresh mind, thinking that you have
never faced this, never think about your previous failures, just focus on the
upcoming test; keep in mind that this time you will do it.

Depend on you what colour and combination you
want to give to your story. Write sensible story on the picture.

necessary to be the first speaker. Speak when there is a little pause raise a
point which has impact your voice should be bold, strong but not rude.

good leader is the one who contributes in forming a decision, don’t repeat and
repeat same points during discussion, it is group exercise remember that.
